DAS - Advanced Data Acquisition System
The DAS Data Acquisition System is designed to provide an advanced underwater data acquisition and telemetry system. The equipment was developed to enable the measurement of various physical parameters within the underwater environment. The proven design makes maximum use of COTS technology and other existing hardware and software modules. It is designed to work in water depths up to 1000 metres and at many kilometres from shore or ship-borne analysis stations. A radio telemetry system is under consideration to increase deployment flexibility.
Applications
- Measurement
- Acoustic
- Multi-influence
- Oceanographic
- Environmental monitoring
- Surveillance
- Acoustic (Active and Passive)
- Multi-Sensor Arrays
- Harbours, petrochemical installations, high value assets
System Description
The DAS is constructed around multi-channel high speed data acquisition hardware. Sensor data is conditioned by analogue electronic modules, sampled and filtered to match the user's requirement. The pre-processed data is then transmitted to a logging/analysis facility via a 100 Mbit/s optical data link. The data stream is recorded to disk based mass data storage. Data can be monitored in real-time, and is available for subsequent study using a suite of purpose designed signal and data analysis tools. Alternative data format, such as LabWindows™ can be supported.
